Srinagar/Oct, 28 : National Conference MP Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi on Thursday visited Awantipur to review progress on AIIMS Awantipur. The work on AIIMS got delayed because of some security issues. Masoodi took up issue with the Defence Minster, sought his intervention and the matter with efforts of all concerned was resolved and working the project commenced, though after a delay of a little less than a year costing rupees 87 crore.
The 1800 crore AIIMS complex will include 750 Bedded Hospital, Medical College for 100 Medical Graduates, a Nursing College with intake capacity of 60 students and a 850 seated auditorium.
The Chief Engineer of the Project, Executive Engineer and the members of CPWD associated with the Project briefed the MP about its salient features, the progress made and the pace of construction. Masoodi taken around to different under construction unit. The Engineers assured Masoodi that sufficient men, machinery and resources stood mobilised and every effort was made to make good the time loss and ensure that the deadline for commissioning was adhered. Masoodi appreciating the commitment of the Chief Engineer and his team impressed upon them to complete the project within the fixed timeframe. He also asked for offering maximum employment to the local skilled and unskilled youth at the construction stage and thereafter. The SDM and Tehsildar Anwamipur
gave details of the steps taken to facilitate early completion of the project. Masoodi asked the administration to take steps for ensuring multiple access to the important healthcare facility.
