Distt Admin Kupwara organizes Block Diwas prog at Shrant, Ashpora, Jabdi

Kupwara: To ensure good governance and to address public issues at the door steps of people, the District Administration Kupwara Wednesday organized 03 Block Diwas cum grievance redressal camps at Shrant-Khurhama in Lolab subdivision, Ashpora-Qaziabad in Handwara Subdivision and Jabdi-Tangdhar in Karnah subdivision.
The main function was held at Shrant Khurhama which was co-chaired by Vice Chairman District Development Council, Haji Farooq Ahmad Mir and Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Imam Din.
Speaking at the occasion, VC DDC said that development of far flung areas like Khurhama is among the top priorities of the Government. He said the area is mostly habituated by ST population and needs special attention from the Government for overall development.
The VC said that there is a huge potential of tourism development in the area which needs special focus of the Government to boost employment opportunities for local youth. He said the Lolab valley including Khurhama is endowed with scenic beauty, lush green forests, streams and clean air which needs to be developed for tourists so that the economy of the people could be boosted.
The Vice Chairman urged the officers for implementation of various welfare schemes and programmes of their concerned departments in the area to benefit the local population.
The Deputy Commissioner in his address stressed upon the officers to ensure zero tolerance against corruption and ensure utmost transparency in delivery of public services. He directed the concerned officers to note the issues raised by the PRIs and provide their timely redressal.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner administered an integrity pledge to the officers and PRIs for upholding the best quality of services free from every kind of corruption.
The DC directed the officers to work with added dedication and ensure maximum benefits are provided to the people under Government welfare schemes residing in far flung areas like Khurhama.
He also distributed various certificates and cards relating to various schemes among the beneficiaries.
The BDC, local PRIs put forward various developmental issues of the area relating to power supply, maintenance of roads, release of MGNREGA payment etc.
Earlier, the BDO Wavoora presented the development profile of the area.
BDC Chairperson, Wavoora, Mohd Rafiq, ACP, PRIs and officers of the administration, besides, a large number of people participated in the Block Diwas.
Later, the Vice Chairman and DC Kupwara inspected various ongoing developmental works in the area.
At Ashpora Handwara, the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Nazir Ahmad Mir chaired the Block Diwas programme at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Ashpora. BDC chairperson, PRIs, officers and people in large numbers attended the Block Diwas programme.
The Block Diwas programme was also held at the border and far-flung Jabdi area in Karnah sub division where SDM Karnah, Gulzar Ahmad presided over the programme.
In all the three block diwas programmes, the public representatives and general public projected their demands pertaining to different departments including Power, Health, R&B, Forest, Agriculture, horticulture and allied sectors and different engineering departments, besides, Social Welfare.
The concerned officers heard them patiently and assured that their genuine demands will be fulfilled on priority basis.
