Police inaugurates “Police Martyrs Memorial Sports Festival” in Handwara

Srinagar: Police in Handwara on Tuesday inaugurated “Police Martyrs Memorial Sports Festival” under the banner of Police Flag Day-2021 in which Cricket, Volleyball, Kabadi and other games will be played till 30th October at DPL Handwara.
The event was inaugurated by SP Handwara Sandeep Gupta, besides DySP DAR Handwara Ab Raqeeb Malik and other Police officers and officials were also present on the occasion.
On the occasion, SP Handwara said that the tournament has been organized by Police in the memory of soldiers who laid their lives in the service of the country. He further said that J&K Police always try to showcase the talent of sportsman in all formats by providing them opportunity to participate in sports activities.
The 1st inaugural match of cricket was played between DPL 11 and Vodhpora which was won by DPL 11 by 05 Runs. In Kabadi, the match was played between Pohrupeth and Dudipora which was won by Pohrupeth. Similarly in Volleyball, two matches were played which were won by PP Chogal and Dudipora after defeating Rajwar and Khaipora respectively.At the end of the event, prizes and trophies were distributed among the winning teams. Trophies were also given to the players who performed best in their respective games.
