Srinagar/ Oct,24 : Two days Multidisciplinary International Conference on “Applied Statistics in Biological, Agricultural, Social and Medical Sciences” was held at Faculty of Fisheries, Rangil Ganderbal, SKUAST-K on 20th and 21st October 2021.
In the conference more than 150 researchers participated in the conference across the globe and 48 scholars presented their papers via oral/poster form. The researchers shared their findings in the form of paper and poster presentations in various technical sessions organized. Vice-Chancellor SKUAST J&K Prof. J. P Sharma formally inaugurated the conference. The conference was organized by Dr. Bilal Ahmad Bhat (Head, Division of Social Sciences, FoFy). The organizer introduced the audience about the conference program. Prof. Massarat Khan Dean Faculty of Fisheries delivered the Welcome address, Prof D.S Hooda, Former Hon’ble PVC, was the guest of honor and Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. J.P Sharma SKUAST J&K was Chief Guest for the day. Dr. Parmil Kumar from University of Jammu, Jammu presented vote of thanks on this occasion. After the Inaugural session technical session-I and Technical Session-II were held on the first day of the conference. In technical Session-I, Prof. T.R. Padi, Dean, FoMS, Pondicherry University, Dr. Farhat Umar and Prof. D.S. Hooda delivered invited talks andin Technical Session-II Prof. T. R. Padi chaired the session in which Prof. Aquil Ahmad, Head Department of Statistics and O.R., AMU. Aligarh and Mr. Hemant Kumar Lohia (IPS) were main speakers. On Second Day, Prof Massarat Khan, Dean Faculty of Fisheries, SKUAST-K chaired the technical Session-III in which Prof. Rashmi Bhardwaj, FIMA (UK) and Dr. Amatul Muhee, Assoc Prof at FVSc.&Ah SKUAST-K delivered the invited talks. Prof. Azmat Alam Khan, FVSc.& AH SKUAST-K. chaired technical session-IV in which the main speaker was Prof Hameed Naseem Rafiabadi, Dean Social Science, CUK. He delivered his talk on Morality and Ethics in Research. The researchers presented papers in all the technical sessions. At the end of the day, valedictory function was held in which Dr. Tasaduq H. Shah delivered the welcome address which was followed by Summing up event by Dr. Bilal Ahmad Bhat, organizing Secretary of the conference. Dr. Bilal Ahmad Bhat at the outset thanked Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor for his support. He thanked all Scientists/Scholars/Dean/Directors from various higher educational institutions of country and abroad for their support. Dr. Bilal thanked Professor Aquil Ahmad, Head Dept of Statistics and Operations Research for acting as Chairman of the panel of judges (Prof. Massarat Kham, SKUAST; Dr. Anupam Deka, Head Dept. of Statistics, Handique’s Girls’s College, Guwahati Assam, India; Prof. Nahida Tabasum, Univ of Kashmir; Dr. Vikas Doshi, Medical College, Baroda, Anand, Gujrat, India; Dr. Samira Khan, Imam AbdulRehman bin Faisal University Eastern Province Dammam, Saudi Arab) for awarding best paper presenters. More than 80 abstracts/papers we received for presentations and on the basis of the quality of paper and presentation, the judges chose the best papers in Mathematical Science, Agricultural and Allied Sciences and best poster presentations. In the Mathematical Science, Dr. Peer Bila Ahmad (Zero-inflated Modified Borel-Tanner Regression Model for Count Data), Dr.Faizan Danish (Mathematical Programming Approach For Obtaining Stratification Points; Ms. Jaspreet Kour Sudan (Inferential Estimation of Truncated Inverse Kumaraswamy Exponential Distribution based on Fuzzy Data, Co-authored, Parmil Kumar) and Dr. M. Iqbal Jeelani Bhat (Prediction and validation of tree volume through statistical modeling) got got first, second(tie) and third prize. In Agricultural and Allied Sciences, Dr. Najimaana Wani (Molecular Detection, Virulence Gene Profiling and Antibiogram of Clostridium perfringens isolated from Fish and Different Drinking Water Sources of Srinagar City, Co-authored, Shakeel Ahmad Wani, Z.H.Munshi, Syed Akram Hussain, Bilal Ahmad Bhat, M.A.Rather and Nusrat Nabi), Dr. Aiman Ashraf (Prevalence and Molecular Characterization of Eimeria species in Goats of Central Kashmir; Co-authored, R.A.Shahardar, Z.A.Wani, I.M.Allaie and K.H.Bulbul) and Ms. Asma Sultan (Ethnobotanical information of medicinal plants used by the natives of the Sindh Forest Division, Ganderbal, Jammu and Kashmir; Co-authored, T.H. Masoodi and Bilal A.Bhat) got first, second and third prize. In Poster presentation, Mr. Dudekula F (Milt parameters of Schizothorax niger using different doses of ovapitin, Co-authored, Gohar Bilal Wani, Bilal Ahmad Bhat and Darve Sabina Iqbal), Ms. Lubna Altaf (Impact of COVID-19 Crisis on Sports Activities of Youth in Kashmir: A Sample Survey; Co-authored, Bilkees Nazir, Insha Nazir, Bilal Ahmad Bhat, Afreen Niyaz and Nuzhat Jan) and Ms. Durdana Qazi (A Study on Legal Awareness of Girl Students in Kashmir valley, Co-authored, Syed Zainab Jalali, Bilal Ahmad Bhat and Irfan Ahmad Khan) got first, second and third ward. The chief guest Hon’ble VC of SKUAST-K spoke on the occasion and congratulated the organizing team for organization of event successfully. Prof Sarfaraz Ah Wani, Director Research, SKUAST-K concluded the day long event with his insightful.The session was formally closed by Prof Azmat Alam Khan by presenting Vote of thanks.
