Budgam: Continuing the initiative of public outreach programme launched by J&K Government, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza Wednesday visited Tehsil Chadoora to have an on spot appraisal of issues, demands and grievances of public at the grass roots level.
At the outset, the DDC handed over Keys and Sanction letters for One Tractor and two Motorized Vending Carts among three identified beneficiaries of Sub-Division Chadoora under CAPEX Budget at Town Hall Chadoora as per Scheme. For Tractor, a subsidy of Rs. 2.0 Lac and for Vending Carts, a subsidy of Rs. 50,000/- each was provided as per norms of the Scheme.
The public outreach programme was held at Town Hall Chadoora where scores of delegations had assembled including Sarpanches, Panches, PRI workers and Traders Union.
The DDC took stock of the grievances and demands including deployment of local staff at SDH Chadoora, protection Bund on road, construction of play fields in block Chadoora, besides several other demands related to basic amenities particularly improvement in drinking water supply, power supply and repairs/macadamization of roads were also brought into his notice.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC assured the gathering that their genuine demands shall be taken on priority and all efforts will be initiated to meet the genuine demands at an earliest.
He assured that all genuine demands and other problems put forth have been recorded and listed by the concerned Departments. All concerned were instructed to double their efforts to ensure that most of the grievances and demands are mitigated within time frame keeping in view the impending winter period.
During the program, the DDC exhorted upon the Animal Husbandry and NRLM Department to conduct an awareness programme regarding schemes and benefits available for public welfare across Sub division Chadoora.
Further, the DDC urged upon all stakeholders to come forward in uprooting the menace of Drug addiction from society. Every panchayat shall procure brush cutters to cut down and destroy cannabis cultivation wherever it exists in the division, the DDC instructed.
The chair was apprised that a Land site for dumping of waste has been identified which will mitigate the demand of disposal of waste generated in the area.
To overcome the issue of traffic congestion in Chadoora Main Market, the DDC was also informed that an alternate site for bus stand has been identified and a detailed project report has been submitted to higher authorities besides another hawking site has also been identified for rehabilitating street vendors.
The DDC said that there shall be another monthly review of the decisions taken in Wednesday ‘s public outreach programme.
All the concerned line departments shall ensure that instructions passed and decisions taken are implemented in letter and spirit, the DDC remarked.
The officers who accompanied the DDC included SDM Chadoora, CMO, CEO, Ex. Engineers of R&B, PDD and I&FC, Tehsildar Chadoora, BMO and others concerned.
