AYUSH J&K starts Yoga and Meditation sessions in Specialised Wellness Centre Patnitop

Udhampur: To promote wellness tourism in J&K, 6 specialized wellness centers are being established under the aegis of National AYUSH Mission.
In this regard, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Vivek Bhardwaj took an initiative to operationalise Ayush Wellness Centres at the tourist destinations of different districts of Jammu and Kashmir provinces.
In this series, Directorate of Ayush J&K, under the supervision of Director Ayush J&K, Dr. Mohan Singh, in collaboration with District Administration Udhampur and Patnitop Development Authority, started the Yoga and Meditation session in Meadow (Near Alpine Hotel), as a part of operationalization of Ayush Specialized wellness centre. The session was attended by 125 participants from the different spheres of life comprising senior citizens, women, and youth.
The session began with the Yogic Prayer and participants were made to perform different Yogic asana and Pranayama practices. Dr. Shameen Choudhary and Sunil Bogle, led the session and briefed the public about different types of Yogic and Pranayama practices.
The session was Inaugurated by CEO, Patnitop Development Authority, Sher Singh.
At the end of the sessions, a free Medical Aid Camp was also organized at the meadow in which Ayush Kwath and other Ayush Immunity booster kits comprising of Immuno-enhancers supplements like Chayvanprash, Tulsi Tab, Ashwagandha Tab etc were distributed among the participants and others tourists. In all, 400 beneficiaries availed Ayush kits.
Dr. Rakesh Kumar Shan, District Ayush Officer, District Udhampur expressed his gratitude towards the participants of the program and urged them to cooperate for making this initiative of Department of Ayush a grand success so that Patnitop can be developed as a hub of Wellness Tourism. The scenic beauty of Patnitop and its pleasant weather are the ideal for the promotion of Wellness Tourism in the District Udhampur. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Shan also presented living memento to the dignitary in the form of Medicinal plants to the guest of honor
Sher Singh, CEO, PDA appreciated the initiative of Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir for beginning the regular Yoga and Meditation classes and expressed his support for early operationalization of Ayush Specialized centre in the heart of the Patnitop so that many therapeutic facilities and spa like treatments can be availed by the tourists and general public at a minimal cost. Likewise, representatives of Hotel Association of Patnitop expressed their happiness over opening of such a centre in the scenic beauty of Patnitop which would enhance the tourism in the region.
Notably, Specialized wellness centers will provide specialty Ayush services like Panchkarma, Hijama, Yoga Meditation, Medicated massages and fomentations for enhancing the travel experience of the tourists and to increase the foot fall in these tourist places of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
