4 drug peddlers arrested in Shopian, contraband substances recovered : Police

Srinagar: Police in Shopian on Thursday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Shopian and recovered huge quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Thursday police said “ as Police Station Zainapora was informed that two persons namely Abdul Hameed Sheikh son of Gh Mohammad Sheikh and Bilal Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohammad Shaban Sheikh both residents of Chillipora have indulged in drug peddling and have hoarded a huge quantity of narcotic substance in their residential houses, a Police party of PS Zainapora along with Executive Magistrate raided the specific locations and upon searches 189Kg’s of Charas grinded leaves, 1.5Kg of Charas Powder and 30Kgs of Poppy Straw were recovered from the said residential houses.
Stating that accused persons have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, police in the concluding para of it’s above referred statement said that a case vide FIR No. 126/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Zainapora and further investigations have been initiated.
