Bandipora: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Wednesday conducted an extensive tour of twin villages of Nowgam in Sumbal Sub Division of Bandipora district and held public interactions to listen to public issues, grievances and demands.
On the occasion, locals apprised the DC about the issues faced by them with regard to basic amenities and sought early redressal of their grievances. Locals raised the issues including availability of rural connectivity, establishment of JK Bank Branch in the area, construction of tiled paths, macadamization, up-gradation of roads, construction of paths and culverts, availability of safe drinking water, augmentation of power infrastructure etc.
The DC after giving patient hearing to the delegations, he passed on-spot directions for redressal of their grievances.
While interacting with the people, Dr Owais appealed to them to get vaccinated at earliest and asked them to adopt Covid Appropriate Behavior (CAB) at all public places including at all religious and social gatherings. He instructed Health and revenue Officers to strictly monitor covid guidelines and vaccination process besides testing at all gatherings.
He said unless the district officers will not reach to far-flung areas, no progress and redressal of grievances is possible and urged them to regularly visit far-flung areas to redress the grievances and also take feedback from the people besides having first hand appraisal of the developmental activities.
The DC was accompanied by Sr Superintendent of Police Bandipora Mohammad Zahid, members of District Development Council, Block Development Council, Assistant Commissioner Development Abdul Rashid Dass, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat Bandipora, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti, R&B, PDD and PMGSY besides BDO and other senior officers of the district.
