Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested five drug peddlers in Pulwama & Bandipora and also recovered contraband substances from their possession. Police furthermore said that it has also destroyed wild bung spread on vast area in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday police said that a Police Party led by SHO PS Pulwama at a traffic checking point near Khamray Crossing intercepted a Santro Car bearing registration number JK01G-4932 with two persons on board identified as Mudasir Ahmad Thoker son of Gh Hassan Thoker resident of Sonasamil and Yamin Rashid son of Ab Rashid Malik resident of Malikpora Pulwama.
Stating that upon checking 370 grams of Charas were recovered from the possession of the above named accused and also 2 digital weighing machines & cash ?10000/- was recovered from their passion, police in the above referred statement further said that all the above named accused were arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody, adding therein further that vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been sized.
Police in it’s statement also said that in a similar incident in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district police noticed movement of drug peddlers in Sumbal area and intensified patrolling in the area following which the patrolling party led by SHO PS Sumbal intercepted three persons in suspicious condition and upon their searches 17 bottles of Codeine were recovered from their possession.
Stating that the accused identified as Majid Mushtaq Shangu son of Mushtaq Ahmad Shangu resident of Osangrampora Sopore, Shafat Ahmad Shah son of Muzafar Ahmad Shah resident of Shaalpora Sopore and Nazir Ahmad Sofi son of Gh Ahmad Sofi resident of Dilna Baramulla, A/P Sumbal were arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody, police in it’s statement said that in South Kashmir’s Shopian an intensified mass destruction drive of Bung (cannabis) was carried out in the villages Wachi, Wandina, Melhoora, and other adjoining areas during which a wild bung spread on vast areas was destroyed.
In the concluded para of it’s above referred statement police said that cases vide FIR No. 288/2021 and FIR No. 136/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered in respective Police Stations and investigation has been taken up.
