NGOs, Civil defence, volunteers, others participate in Dal cleaning operations

Srinagar: Under the supervision of J&K LAWDA for de-weeding and solid waste management extraction, several organizations including SDRF, NDRF, house boat owners association, shikara association, NGO’s on Thursday actively participated in cleaning operation of Dal Lake.
The cleaning operation is being carried out under the Swachhta Pakhwada programme launched on October 02 by the Lieutenant Governor J&K Manoj Sinha from SKICC.
On Thursday, the cleaning process launched by LAWDA under “SwachtaPakhwada” that commenced on 2nd October 2021, as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ campaign, the DDC Vice Chairman, Bilal Ahmad Bhat participated in de-weeding process.
The DDC, Vice Chairman also inspected the lily extraction activity which is being done on a large scale by LAWDA. Besides, he also participated in the de-weeding process. He was accompanied by Executive Engineer Muhammad Ashraf Baba and officials of LAWDA.
The volunteers from the home guard also participated Thursday in the de-weeding process in Dal Lake.
Various dignitaries have so far participated in the de-weeding process in Dal Lake in which LAWDA in collaboration with other organizations started de-weeding of Dal Lake on a massive scale.
Meanwhile, Vice Chairman LAWDA Dr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat urged the houseboat owners to clean the areas around the houseboats by de-weeding and collection of solid waste so as to keep the area clean in order to attract more tourists.
He also sought cooperation of all stakeholders for participation in cleaning of Dal Lake to upkeep the aesthetics of the lake.The cleaning drive as per the officials shall continue for fifteen days.
