GDC for Women Bla conducts Cycle race ‘Pedal for Peace’

Gulmarg: The Physical Education and Sports department of Government Degree College (GDC) for Women Baramulla has conducted a cycle race ‘Pedal for peace’ as part of week-long celebration of Gandhi Jayanti under the banner of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. The race was flagged off by Principal of the College, (Dr) Prof Fahmeeda Hilal at 6:30 am in the morning from the Main Gate of GDC Women to GDC Boys Baramulla and back to college main gate.
In this event, a good number of girl students of our college participated with enthusiasm and vigour. At the time of inauguration and kick starting of the event, principal of the college and members of the Sports Activities Committee were present who welcomed the students and encouraged them to participate in the sports event. Before starting the race, Naseeba Jan (Physical Training Instructor) of the college briefed the students about the basic rules. There was a cut throat competition among the participants during the event. Snober Hassan student of 1st sem, Fozia Maqsood student of 2nd sem and Masrat Rafiq student of 6th sem got 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
