SOTTO J&K organises awareness session for students of Stephens College of Nursing

Jammu: State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO) J&K Monday organised an awareness session on Deceased Organ Donation in collaboration with Stephen College of Nursing Jammu.
Principal GMC, Dr. Shashi Sudhan Sharma also lauded the efforts of students and SOTTO J&K. She spoke on the importance of donating organs after brain death. She said that there is a need to motivate more people to donate organs.
Students were made aware of the National Organ Transplant Program (NOTP) which is being run in SSH, Government Medical College Jammu. They were told that many people die due to non-availability of organs for transplant so it is very important to pledge and donate organs.
During the program, OPD visitors were made aware by students through Rangoli and posters. The Students also pledged to donate their organs after death and motivate others to do the same.
Dr. Kamal Saini (Retd. IGP), Chairman, Stephens College of Nursing and Satvinder Saini (Director, SIPS) also lauded the role of SOTTO J&K and students of Stephens College of Nursing for carrying out activities related to Organ Donation. They said that creating awareness regarding organ donation is the only way to bridge the gap between the huge demand of organs and short supply of donors.
Manoj Kotru, Administrator, Stephens College of Nursing advised the students to think-out- of-the-box, so that their contribution to society becomes manifold.
Rajni Sharma, Assistant professor , Stephen College; Anshu Sharma, consultant IEC/Media (SOTTO) J&K; Dr. Irfan Lone, Transplant coordinator were also present during the program.
