Jammu: Government Educational institutions Saturday celebrated Gandhi Jayanti by paying rich tributes to Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi and holding different activities to highlight Gandhian principles of world peace, social justice and purity of mind and soul by imbibing truthfulness and cleanliness.
Government Degree College Ukhral organised an essay writing competition on the theme “Ghandian Philosophy of Truth and Nonviolence” to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr) Ranvijay Singh encouraged the students to cherish and follow the philosophy of truth, unity and harmony as taught by Bapu Ji. A large number of students participated in this program. Principal, staff and students of the college paid floral tributes to the great leader.
GPGCW, Gandhinagar celebrated Gandhi Jayanti by hosting a Cultural Bonanza presented by the NSS volunteers , cadets of 2J&K Girls Bn, and students of Music Department under the aegis of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’.Through the mesmerizing music, thumping beats, poems and speeches, students revisited the Gandhian Philosophy. A total of 35 students participated in different events with enthusiasm and exhibited their talent.Dr. Sangita Nagari , the Principal of the College was the Chief Guest on the occasion. She applauded the students and staff for their efforts in this pandemic situation and guided them to imbibe the essence of Gandhian philosophy of Non- Violence in their life too.Swachhta Pledge was also taken by the Principal, Faculty and the Students wherein they committed to devote 100 hours per year to do voluntary work for cleanliness and encourage 100 persons to do the same.
Government College for Women Parade: National Service Scheme and National Cadets Corps wings of Government College for Women Parade Ground commemorated Gandhi Jayanti and International Day of Non Violence. Around 25 volunteers of NSS Unit and 25 cadets of NCC participated in the event. The event started with a Swachhta pledge taking ceremony. The ceremony was followed by a visitation to the Darbar-e-aam, Mubarak Mandi to solemnize the event. An Intra online poster and slogan making competition, on the theme “Recovering better for an equitable and sustainable world”, in the honour of “International Day of Non Violence” were also held, where more than 300 students showed their active participation. A cleanliness drive was also organized by NSS Unit of the college under “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”, in the college premises to promote a cleaner and healthier environment.
Directorate of School Education Jammu Commemorating the 152nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and 117th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Directorate of School Education Jammu Saturday organised an array of events in schools and offices covering all the 10 districts of Jammu Division. At district level the programmes which included quiz, debates, plays, skits, songs, painting, poster making, swatchta drives etc. were held under the supervision of the Chief Education Officers of the respective districts, coordinated by the teaching community and other officials at the school level. Swachta pledged were also administered to the students and officials across the division and students were made aware about the chief principles of Gandhian philosophy such as promoting amity, peace, selfless service, social equity, social justice, cleaniliness, secularism, non violence, universal brotherhood etc and his contributions in the freedom struggle.Students were also reminded of the contributions of Lal Bahadur Shastri and his role in making India self-reliant through the Green and White Revolutions and mobilizing the entire nation with the slogan Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan.At the division level, a colorful online programme was organised by the Directorate of School Education Jammu through its cultural cell wherein students payed tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri through various art forms. Master Sandeep Koul from Government Boys Higher Secondary School Sarwal, Jammu and Niharika ,GHSS Birpur, Samba, shed light on the lives and ideologies of the two leaders through beautiful paintings, while Ms. Shallu from GGHSS Kathua, chose singing.Bhumika Mahajan, GHSS Barmeen,Udampur, Disha Rajput, GMS Chubby, Reasi (Poetry), Manisha Mehra, GHSS Ramban( Singing), Samridhi Sen, GMS Hatta, Kishtwar ( Singing). Ashmita Rajput, Doda, (Poetry),. Aarzoo,GMS Bambalkote, Poonch, ( Singing) and Saika Kouser, GMHS Palam, Rajouri enthralled everyone by their skill and talent. Supriya Sharma, Cultural and Education cell coordinated the event and Ashutosh Sharma provided the technical support.
