J&K police to organize “run for peace” Kashmir marathon 2021

Srinagar: Police under the patronage of DGP J&K Dilbag Singh, is organizing “Run for Peace” Kashmir Marathon, on October 17, 2021 under its Civic Action Programme (CAP) at Srinagar. The event shall be organized as a part of 75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahaotsav.

S.J.M Gillani ADGP Armed J&K is the Chairman of this event and Vijay Kumar-IPS IGP Kashmir Zone is its Organizing Secretary. Various committees have been constituted for making the event a great success in all respect.
ADGP Armed J&K discussed all the activities of the event with the members of designated committees and connected officials Friday at Conference Hall of Armed Police Headquarters Srinagar to chalk-out the preparations for the event.

Various other sensitive issues connected with the event including security on all the involved routes, traffic regulation and medical facilities were also discussed threadbare during the meeting. Enroute arrangements/ area wise responsibilities were also briefed minutely on the occasion.

Earlier, Syed Sajad Hussain Pvt. Secy. to ADGP Armed, having additional charge of Dy SP Sports APHQ briefed the meeting through a visual presentation about all the activities to be carried out during the event. He enlightened the meeting about all the routes and arrangements proposed for the event.

The ADGP Armed apprised the house that the event is organized for the people of all walks of life, adding that it is an “open for all” event. He advised that vast publicity should be made to ensure participation of one and all.

The various events which are scheduled to take place during Kashmir Marathon “Run for Peace” on October 17, 2021 at Police Golf Course Boulevard Road Srinagar include 21 Kmrs Half Marathon (Men), 21 Kmrs Half Marathon (for Police/ Army/ CAPF Personnel), 10 Kmrs Road Race (Open for Boys above 14 years), 10 Kmrs Road Race (Open for Girls above 14 years), 5 Kmrs Road Race (Sub-Junior Boys Under 14 Years) and 4 Kmrs Road Race (Sub-Junior Girls under 14 years), 2 Kmrs Road Race for specially challenged (Boys/ Girls), 4 Kmrs Run for Fun (Open for All Senior Citizens/ Children) and 4 Kmrs Run for Fun for Senior Citizen/ Children.

The meeting was attended by a number of senior officers, Chairmen/ members of all Sub-committees including Garib Dass- IGP, Amit Kumar-IPS DIG CKR Srinagar, Sheikh Junaid Mahmood (SSP APCR Kashmir), Bakar Hussain Samoon-SSP (CO IRP-20th Bn.), Mahmood Ahmed-SSP (SO to ADGP Armed J&K), Shamsheer Hussain-SSP (CO JKAP 13th Bn.), Javid Ahmad-SSP (SO to IGP Armed/ IR Kashmir), Manoj Kumar Pandth-SSP (AIG Welfare PHQ J&K), Manzoor Ahmad Dalal-SSP (CO JKAP 9th Bn.), Dushyant Sharma-SSP SO Sports APHQ (through video conference), Javaid Hassan Bhat-SSP (SO to IGP Kashmir), Raseeq Ahmad Mir (Dy.CO IRP 3rd Bn.), Tariq Ahmad-SP (Addl. SP Traffic Srinagar), Abdul Hameed Dar Dy.SP (Pers.) APHQ, Mohd Ashraf–DySP (Crime Branch Kashmir), Younis Ahmad Malik-Inspr. (MTO) APHQ, Dronacharya Awardee Kuldeep Handoo-Inspr. (Sports) APHQ, Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah-Inspr. (I/C Estates) Zewan and others. Besides, representatives from traffic, security, telecommunication, SDRF & Police Headquarters were also present on the occasion. During the meeting it was also announced that four registration counters shall be established at Srinagar w.e.f 10th of October 2021 at SDPO Office Nehru Park, Lake View Police Golf Course Srinagar, S K Indoor Sports Complex Srinagar and Kashmir University Srinagar. Athlete shall collect/ deposit their registration forms at the afore said registration counters. SSP APCR Kashmir has also been asked to liaise AIG (W) PHQ for creation of link for online registration. The participants shall have to assemble at the venue on 0545 hours for scrutiny and distribution of Chest Nos/ T-Shirts from 0600 hours to 0630 hours. The Half Marathon Men 21 Kmrs. shall be flagged-off at 0645 hours whereafter within a gap of 2 to 3 minutes the other categories shall be flagged-off one after another by 0700 hours. During the meeting all the arrangements required for smooth and safe conduct of the event have been discussed threadbare which include Police Bandobust around the venue, Disaster Management, Communication System, Medical Facilities, Transport Facilities, Traffic Arrangement, Security Arrangement and enroute arrangements for participants.
