Block Divas held across Kupwara

Mega events held in Trehgam, Panditpora Qaziabad, Tangdar, Sogam

Kupwara: To ensure good governance and to address public issues at their door steps, the District Administration Kupwara Thursday organized four Mega Block Divas cum grievance redressal camps at Trehgam, Panditpora Qaziabad, Tangdar and Chandigam Sogam.
The main function was held at Tehsil Office Trehgam which was chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din. The BDC Chairperson, Mohammad Abdullah Mir, PRIs and officers of the administration, besides, a large number of people participated in the Mega Block Divas.
In his address, the Deputy Commissioner said that the three tier Panchayati Raj System is flourishing at ground level and the basic plan of development is formulated by the public representatives in consultation through Gram Panchayats.
He said that the government is committed to redress the problems of people, adding that the Block Divas like programmes have been formulated by the Government to redress the problems of the people at their doorsteps. He directed the concerned officers to work with added dedication and remain proactive in resolving the problems of the people.
Referring to the demands of the PRIs regarding completion of on-going different works including bridges at Bangergund and Chowkibal, the Deputy Commissioner said that all on-going works shall be completed within the stipulated time.
He appealed to the people to follow Covid appropriate behaviour and other SOPs and ensure usage of masks, hand sanitizers. He appealed the youth below 45 year age to come forward and vaccinate themselves at nearest vaccination centres so that the possible 3rd wave of COVID-19 can be defeated.
Earlier, the BDC Chairperson, Mohammad Abdullah Mir, PRIs and senior citizens highlighted their developmental issues which include enhancement of sanction cases of PMAY, reopening of schools, construction of community hall, completion of bridge at Chowkibal and Bangergund and other day to day issues.
At Tangdar, the Block Divas programme was chaired by SDM Karnah, Dr. Gulzar Ahmad Rather whileDDC Member Karnah, Najma Hameed was also present.
The PRIs and general public projected their demands pertaining to different departments including Health, Education, Agriculture and allied sectors and different engineering departments, besides, Social Welfare.
The SDM listened to grievances patiently and issued appropriate directions for timely redressal of genuine demands of the people.
BDO Tangdar was also present at the occasion who appreciated the people for their participation in the Block Divas programme.
In Lolab sub division, Block Divas was chaired by SDM Sogam, Aijaz Ahmad at Chandigam. BDC Chairperson Sogam, Nagina, PRIs and officers attended the programme.
On the occasion, PRIs put forth various demands regarding the development of their concerned areas. The SDM heard their issues patiently and assured them about resolution within the given timeline.
Block Divas was also conducted in Handwara sub division where Tehsildar Qaziabad, Syed Shahid Hussain chaired the programme at Panditpora Qaziabad. BDC Chairman, Bashir Ahmad; PRIs and officers were present in the programme.
