Govt.PG College for Women Gandhi Nagar organises Webinar on ‘Emerging Technologies in Neuroscience & related Career Opportunities’

Jammu: Department of Botany and Department of Biotechnology Government P G College for Women Gandhi Nagar, in collaboration with IQAC organised one day International Webinar on ‘Emerging Technologies in Neuroscience and related Career Opportunities’ under the Patronage of Worthy Principal Dr. Sangita Nagari on 24th of September 2021.
The programme started with the welcome address by Prof. Mala Bhasin Head Department of Botany who welcomed the Chief Guest Dr. Sangita Nagari and Guest of Honour Dr. Suresh Bhatt Coordinator IQAC & HoD Chemistry, Guest Speaker Dr. Komal Kampasi along with faculty and students of the College. She formally introduced Dr. Komal Kampasi by reading her credentials. It was informed that Dr Kampasi is recipient of a number of distinctions including National Science Foundation’s Excellence Award in Neural Engineering and Tie Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society’s distinguished Scholar Award, Dr. Kampasi,
Research Staff Member, Center for Micro and Nano Technology Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory USA , gave a detailed account of the emerging technologies and work carried out in the field of Neuroscience particularly by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory USA. She also talked in detail about the neural interface and its working within the central and peripheral nervous system. Dr. Kampasi’s research is aimed at designing and prototyping next generation brain machine interfaces and ultimately finding treatment methods for debilitating neurological disorder like Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and epilepsy. She apprised the students about the Career Opportunities in the field of Neural Engineering and Clinical Neuroscience.
A total of 98 students attended the webinar besides faculty of the College.
Dr.Sangita Nagari congratulated Prof. Mala Bhasin Convener, Dr. Rahul Sharma Co-convenor and Dr. Anju Koul Organizing Secretary for organising such a wonderful and informative Webinar.
The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. Rahul Sharma HoD Biotechnology.
The Webinar was coordinated successfully by Dr. Anju Koul.
