Shopian: The National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) Shopian (UMEED) organized a Bankers Workshop in collaboration with Lead District Manager J&K Bank at RSETI Shopian.
The aim of the workshop was to sensitize the bankers and the community for proper implementation of the programme and offer an opportunity for direct interaction between bankers and SHG members.
On the occasion, Block Programme Manager NRLM, Shopian, Rayees Rathore presented an overview of activities, approach and achievements of UMEED, particularly in the area of financial inclusion.
He said the mandate of NRLM is to reach out to 66 percent of the rural population and link them to sustainable livelihood opportunities. He briefed the participants about the problems faced by SHG members at branches of Bank.
The LDM Shopian issued necessary instructions to Branch Managers for smoothing the process of credit linkages.
During the workshop the participants were informed about different schemes and loans being provided by banks.
The utility of financial literacy and its benefits to the common masses were explained to the audience. Concepts of working of SHGs, access to credit card facilities and banking insurance were also discussed.
It was given out in the workshop that Bank machinery has been geared up to address the challenges of financial literacy and involving all the stakeholders in the process of financial inclusion in the district.
The officers in the camp also stressed on financial awareness and basic banking facilities for the educated unemployed youth of the district.
Director RSETI, Shopian, DPM FI, DPM Livelihood Shopian, DPM(IB&CB) NRLM Pulwama, BPM NRLM Tral, LDM Shopian, DDM NABARD , concerned Branch Managers from J&K Bank and SHG members were also present in the workshop.
DPM (IB&CB) Pulwama gave detailed presentation on the structure, policies and guidelines of NRLM
DDM NABARD sensitized the Branch Managers about the role of banks in the implementation of the said scheme.
