Two day Happy Hours Mela concludes at IDPS B’pora

Bandipora: The two day “Happy Hours Mela” concluded Thursday here at International Dehli public school Bandipora.

The event was organized by management of IDPS. The mega event was inaugurated by Chairman IDPS Fayaz Ahmad. The mela as per the administration witnessed the participation of over 2000 students and teachers apart from general public.

Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad was the chief guest of the event. Chairman IDPS in his welcome address thanked all the stakeholders associated with the Mela.

This year’s theme of the festival, which provides a platform for local youth to showcase their skills in different areas, was ‘Happy Two hours mela’. The highlights of the closing ceremony were dance performances and other cultural programmes.

On the second day of the festival, the audience enjoyed folk songs by the Gujjar community, patriotic songs by the local children, dances and a karate display in addition to the finals of the local games.

During conclusion programme cash prize, consolation prize and certificates of participation were distributed among the participants.

With COVID-19 taking a toll on the students as well, the Mela as per the school authorities helped to cheer the students.

Chairman of school Fayaz Ahamd said the main purpose of the event or Mela was to en-heart the students stuck at homes with little physical social interactions.

Many dignitaries and artists who participated in the Mela, apart from officials from the district administration who graced the occasion and appreciated the part played by the school admin ‘to lessen the psychological burden of students who were impacted by the pandemic’.

The school administration said that the invutation was open to the general public and the grand event witnessed the participation of thousands from across the district and outside as well.

They said that the basic aim to cheer students amid the COVID pandemic was successfully met as the students had a long-overdue break with proper SOP’s to connect with the physical world as online education has restricted them from various co-curricular activities.
