Srinagar: Chairman People’s Democratic Front ( PDF) Hakeem Yaseen has urged the government to respect Court directions about continuation of the services of 1000 Helpers to Supervisors who have been disbanded by the social welfare department recently.
In a statement issued on Wednesday Hakeem Yaseen while seeking implementation of the Court directions about continuation of services of the disbanded Helpers to Supervisors in social Welfare department , said it was most ironicle that instead of fulfilling its tall claims to provide employment to 50,000 youth of jammu and kashmir, the government was hell bend to snatch the livelihood of those poor workers who have been engaged about 20 years ago.He said these Helpers belong to the poorest of the poor section of the society and have been discharging thier duties as frontline workers at the times of various exigencies . He said thier dedication and contribution to the society has been acknowleged by none other than Prime Minister of India and Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and kashmir on many occasions.
PDF Chairman has urged the LG Manoj Sinha to direct the bearucracy not to move or germinste any such anti people and anti youth proposals in future adding that such actions add to the element of alienation and mistrust among the people towards the mainstream. He said a section in the bearucracy, in a bid to prove more loyal than the king , oftenly germinate such proposals which are deadly against the interests of employees and common people. ” Enhancing the rate of water tax and electricity fees, implementation of property tax and forcibly disbanding employees and poor workers are tip of the Iceberg. ” Need of the hour was to initiate measures that would generate goodwill among majority of the people , ” Hakeem Yaseen said adding that in a welfare state, everything should not be weighed in terms of financial returns. He said welbeing of its people , without any consideration of caste, creed, colour, region or religion was the sacred motive of a welfare state.
Hakeem Yaseen has urged the government to make bearucracy accountable and responsive to the aspirations of the people to redress thier genuine problems. He said government should desist from anti – employees and anti- poor policies and focus on generating more job opportunities for the unemployed youth of jammu and kashmir.(KNS)
