Education is a constitutional right of every citizen that prepares an individual to play their role as a sophisticated member of a society. It is a powerful weapon that aids an individual to face the Adversities of life and helps him to overcome the social stigmas associated with person’s life such as poverty, fear, status to achieve success. Education has the potential to revolutionize the course of nation with the help of it’s skilled and educated youth. A nation that is well educated discards any sort of obstacles that hinder it’s growth and strives hard to attain success and sustainable development. An educated and Well-cultured society leads to a progressive society. A Nation is an amalgamation of different societies. The importance of education in a society helps to overcome the shackles of inequality, corruption, poverty, unemployment, gender inequality, economic disparity and other evils prevailing in a society or Nation. Education is a process of imparting knowledge from teachers to students. The process of imparting education may contain a different varieties of steps depending on the stage and quality of education. It is a key process which plays a significant role in maintaining the culture and ethics of the society. Modern education is most suitable, open and liberal. It brings freedom equality and humanism to the life of individual and society as well. Education brings positive changes in child’s life and helps him/her to become a useful member of society. It enhances the knowledge, skill and intelligence of a person and thus helping a person to lead a successful life.
For an uneducated and illiterate youth or a person it is almost impossible and very difficult for him to contribute towards his own betterment as well as for the betterment and development of Nation. The substantial effect of illiteracy is unemployment which hinders the progress of Nation leading to low standards of living and an increased crime rate. To overcome this grave problem of illiteracy “Education for all”(EFA) a global movement led by UNESCO was started which aims to meet the learning needs of all children, youth and adults by 2015.
Now the Government has hastened the vaccination drive so as to get teachers and students vaccinated as soon as possible so that educational institutions could be opened soon which should have been done much earlier because we can wait for other things to come but we can’t wait for education which is our fundamental right.
The EFA was set up with the goal in mind that all children would receive primary education by 2015, not all children receive the education they need or want, therefore this goal was put in place to help those children. However the goals set by EFA were not able to be met by all. Some countries were unable to meet these goals due to conflict in the area. According to a recent UNESCO updates, it revealed in its 2017 Global Education Monitoring report that around 264 million Youngsters do not attend school. Likewise India is also stuck in a critical situation where it’s education system has failed to provide even basic education to children. Although Indian Government has launched several schemes like “sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan” (SSA), “Mid Day Meal scheme” (MDMS), “National Program”. For Education of Girls at Elementary Level” (NPEGEL) but still receiving primary education is a dream for many. In a conflict zone like Kashmir education always remains at the back end. Due to frequent shutdowns or untoward incidents education in the valley has always been pushed to the wall. Students have suffered a lot over the years and wasted crucial time. After the abrogation of the special status of erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir followed by the communication blackout and curfew the educational institutions were bedridden and paralyzed, depriving students education for almost a year which was followed by the deadly outbreak of covid-19 virus making it totally impossible for people to move out and hence again depriving us the right to education for one more year. Now the Government has hastened the vaccination drive so as to get teachers and students vaccinated as soon as possible so that educational institutions could be opened soon which should have been done much earlier because we can wait for other things to come but we can’t wait for education which is our fundamental right. Government should manage it wisely so that we will not be deprived of education that is the backbone for a nation to progress but unfortunately currently it seems that the backbone has been broken into pieces leading us to destruction and a devastating dark phase where from it would be impossible for us to return if the things remain same.
