Srinagar/September,14: To promote sports in Kashmir and positively engage the youth, Indian Army in collaboration with J&K Sports Council and Youth Sports Deptt kicked off First ever Day Night Inter Village Kabaddi Tournament in Boniyar Tehsil of Baramulla Distt on 13 Sep
Alongwith providing a platform to the youth for displaying sporting talent, the event also aims at promoting awareness against the drugs menance and is intended at curbing its impact.
The inaugural matches played on 13 Sep witnessed heavy footfall of locals and youth who turned up for cheering and motivating the teams.
The event which is scheduled over 5 days wef 13 – 18 Sep has 16 teams from Boniyar Tehsil contesting for the Coveted Jawan Awaam Trophy.
Alongwith BDC Chairman and Sarpanchs, SDM Uri also joined the event to witness the performances of the local youth.
The electrifying atmosphere with players roughing it out on Sports Mat under floodlights was delight to the eyes of the spectators most of whom were experiencing it for the first time.
Locals expressed their gratitude towards Army, Civil Administration and Sports Bodies of J&K who joined together for the cause of the Youth, they expressed their desire for more such events to be conducted in future as well.
