Srinagar: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal Tuesday visited Dadina Budgam and adjoining areas to take stock of different crops cultivated on the agriculture land which has been reclaimed after it was previously occupied by a brick kiln.
The said agriculture land has been reclaimed under the scheme, National Adoption Fund for Climate Change (NAFCC).
While interacting with the farmers, the Director appreciated the collaborative efforts of the farmers and concerned officers/officials of the department for their efforts and commitment towards this reclamation endeavour.
He reiterated the department’s commitment for the promotion of the vegetable sector in the valley and said that the department is working to ensure the availability of exotic vegetables and latest variety seeds of different crops to the farmers so that they could fetch more returns for their hard work.
The Director also inspected the paddy harvesting operations in these areas and informed the farmers that the department will provide them with the seeds of Paddy varieties SR-4, SR-5 as a replacement for their early varieties from next season so that the goal of socio-economic transformation and doubling the farmer’s income could be achieved within the stipulated time frame.
Iqbal also visited Hi-tech Polygreen houses at Palar Budgam to take stock of the availability of various vegetable seedlings, especially onion, to the farmers in coming days.
During the visit, the director was briefed by the concerned officers about the various agriculture activities in the areas.
