GDC Kathua organises 2nd National Level Quiz Competition in Chemistry

Kathua: A National Level Online Quiz Competition was Monday organized by the Department of Chemistry, Government Degree College Kathua on the topic “Organic and Inorganic Chemistry” based on syllabus of Semester 6th of University of Jammu.
The National Online Quiz Competition was organized under the overall supervision and Guidance of Prof. Asha Ram Sharma, Principal of the College, by the Organizing Committee comprising Prof. Rakesh Singh (Convener), Dr. Pankaj Gupta (Organising Secretary), Dr. Ambica, Dr. Upasna Andotra and Dr. Roshan Lal .
Prof. Rakesh Singh, Convenor of the National Level Online Quiz competition, while giving details of Quiz, told that a total of 272 participants from different Colleges of J&K and Universities from all over India participated and enriched their experience in Multiple Choice Questions. Besides J&K, students from Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Haryana, Chandigarh, Maharashtra, MP, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Madhaya Pardesh Uttar Pradesh, took part in the Online Quiz Competition. A total of 50 MCQs were asked in the Quiz covering all the units of Syllabus of Semester Vith.
He said that UG , PG Students and Research scholars of reputed Colleges and Universities and Institutions of India like Alagapa University, IIT GUWAHATI, Institute of forensic science Mumbai, NIT Srinagar, Chandigarh University, University of Jammu, University of Kashmir, Cluster University Jammu, Pune University, Annamalai University, Bangalore North University, Pune University etc. participated in the Online Quiz Competition. Participants securing 80 percent and above were awarded e-Certificates.
He said that the topic of the Online Quiz was conducted to familiarize students with the new pattern of MCQ based examination announced by Jammu University and UGC recommendations in view of Covid-19 pandemic.
Dr. Pankaj Gupta, Organizing Secretary of the Online quiz competition while giving details told that a total of 24 students from different institutions like Government Degree College Kathua, GDC, Kishtwar, Balasaheb Jadhav College of Science, Artsand Commerce, Ale, Pune, SCVB College Palampur (HP), Govt GLMD College Hiranagar, secured more than 80 percent in Quiz Competition and awarded E-Certificates. Shwetan Kumar of GDC, Kathua stood 1st, Manish Kumar, Natish Kumar, Kanika Andotra stood 2nd and Himanshi Khajuria, Smeeksha Sharma, Arushi Sharma of GDC, Kathua stood 3rd in the quiz competition.
Prof. Asha Ram Sharma lauded the contribution of Department of Chemistry for preparing the students as per latest pattern of MCQ examination announced by University of Jammu. He appreciated the efforts of Prof. Rakesh Singh, HOD Chemistry and other faculty of Department for organizing a quiz competition in Chemistry for the overall welfare of students of not only of GDC, Kathua but also for students of other colleges of state and whole of India. He further said that the overwhelming response of the students showed that they were keen to prepare themselves for the forthcoming MCQ pattern of examination.
