J&K LAWDA conducts 116th meeting of BPA

36 cases decided on merits

Srinagar: The J&K Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) Wednesday convened 116th meeting of the Building Permission Authority (BPA) under the chairmanship of Vice Chairman (VC) LAWDA, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat who is also the Chairman of BOCA at Miskeen Bagh Office Complex, here.
The agenda for the meeting was disused threadbare and a total of 36 cases were decided upon by the BPA on merits.
Among others, Chief Town Planner of Kashmir, Joint Commissioner (P) SMC, Enforcement Officer LAWDA, Executive Engineer Lake Division 2nd LAWDA, Executive Engineer Electric Inspection Division, Executive Engineer UEED Division 1st, Naib Tehsildar (Collector LAWDA), representatives Executive Engineer PHE Division, Tehsildar North, representative Tehsildar Khanyar, and Law officer LAWDA as members of the Building Permission Authority were present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, a demolition drive was launched by Enforcement Wing of LAWDA Wednesday under the supervision of Enforcement Officers, Abdul Aziz Qadri and Zahid Aziz Samoon in the area of Friends Colony, Beggar Home Lashkari Mohalla, Ishber, Doji Mohalla, Mallapora Rainawari and Saderbal.
During the drive two Plinths, two Huts, two single storeys and one roofing raised illegally were demolished onspot. Besides illegally dumped material/Earth filling was also removed and seized onspot. Also legal action warranted under rules was initiated against the violators.
There was minor resistance at some places from the locals of the area, however the demolition team remained on forefront and conducted the demolition in a hassle free manner.
The Vice Chairman has requested the people residing in the local jurisdiction of LAWDA to apply for proper building permission through its building permission authority, before starting any sort of construction.
