Bandipora:The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Tuesday urged the students above the age of 18 years to get vaccinated immediately so that they can resume their classes and appear in upcoming exams as and when allowed by Government.
While briefing the media about covid situation in the district, Dr Owais said the class work may start soon in colleges and only vaccinated students shall be allowed to enter the college. He urged the students to get vaccinated as soon as possible so that they can resume their classes when allowed by the Government.
Dr Owais said 65 percent of the 18-44 years age group has been vaccinated so far and fifty thousand second doses have also been administered so far. He urged the left out persons to get vaccinated at earliest.
He said the people should come forward for vaccination voluntarily as it is absolutely safe. He said the health teams are also going for a door to door vaccination campaign so that the whole population is covered.
The DC said the graph of Covid-19 cases is gradually going down and can further slip down if people continue to follow Covid Appropriate Behavior and ensure they are vaccinated at earliest.
He said there are 28 active positive cases in the district as on date and only one patient out of these is in hospital isolation. He said the extensive sampling and subsequent isolation of positive cases helped to control the spread of virus in containment zones.
He said the graph can go down in coming days if people continue to follow CAB and get vaccinated as soon as possible. He said even if the vaccinated person contracts the virus, the symptoms are mild as compared to unvaccinated people. He urged the people to get vaccinated and those who have a pending second dose should go for a second dose at earliest.
Dr Owais appealed to people to adopt COVID Appropriate Behavior (CAB) to avoid spread of the virus and warned of strict action against violators. He said the CAB and SOPs are vital to prevent any spike in infections and cautioned against any complacency on part of the stakeholders so that the virus is kept at bay and its spread is curtailed further.
He appealed to the people not to lower guard and asked them to follow guidelines so that administration is not forced to take action against violators. He said the general public can report the violation of SOPs to the controlled rooms so that action can be taken against violators.
