Jammu: Department of Home Science, Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu organized an intra college online “Healthy Snack making Competition for School going children” in consonance with the theme of National Nutrition week, 2021- ‘Feeding smart right from the start.’
The programme was conducted with the support of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Sangita Nagari and able guidance of HOD Dr. Irvinder Kour to raise awareness about nutritional and adaptive eating habits.
The programme witnessed enormous response from students. The participants were judged by Dr. Anuradha Gupta, HOD Food Science and Technology, Govt. P. G. College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu; Dr. Nidhi Kotwal, Principal GDC Basoli and Prof. Ashwani Khajuria Associate Professor, Women College Kathua.
The First position was bagged by Navleen Kaur of BSc sem 4 who prepared Channa dal and vegetable tikka, second position went to Draqsha Naaz of BSc sem 4 who prepared moong dal cutlets and third position was won by Pallavi Gupta of BA sem 4 who prepared fruit and nut salad. The competition was successfully conducted by the organizing team Dr. Anjali Bhat, Prof. Neelam Bhagat, Dr. Ramandeep Kour, Dr. Neelima G and Prof. Shivani Sawhney. The student committee included Navleen Kour and Tanisha Jain.
Principal of the college, Dr. Sangita Nagari acknowledged the efforts of all the participants and emphasised the need for organizing such more activities in order to generate awareness regarding health and nutrition during this pandemic.
