Kupwara: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din Monday expressed satisfaction over the safe Covid pandemic situation in the district and urged the people to continuously follow the Covid Appropriate Behavior (CAB) to keep the district safe from possible 3rd wave of the pandemic.
The DC was addressing a presser in his office chamber, here Monday to present the current Covid situation, containment and mitigation measures employed.
Sharing details about the current Covid scenario, the DC said that there are 27 active positive cases in the district. He said that the positivity rate during the last week stands at 0.19 percent, while the district registered 98.64 percent recovery rate and fatality rate of 1.16 percent.
Regarding vaccination, the DC said that 55 percent of the population within the 18-45 year age group has been vaccinated till date.
He said that schools have been opened from Monday for 10th and 12th classes amid Covid sampling of both teachers and students, besides, due adherence to COVID SOPs. He further said that special vaccination camps shall be organized for the students who have got admission in various colleges of the district to restore the academic year properly.
While expressing satisfaction over the safe Covid-19 pandemic situation in the district, the DC urged the people of the district to continuously follow the CAB. He further appealed to the youth below 45 year age to vaccinate themselves at nearest vaccination centres to keep the district safe against the possible 3rd wave of the Covid.
