Srinagar: Police in Kulgam on Tuesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substances from his possession.
In statement issued here on Tuesday police said that acting on specific information, a special checkpoint was established at Okay Kulgm under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Kulgam Ghulam Muhamad Bhat and upon checking a suspicious person carrying a gunny bag was intercepted and identified as Hilal Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Rashid Mir resident of Okey Kulgam.
Stating that during checking, officers recovered 500gms of Charas and 5kgs of Poppy Straw from the possession of the above named accused who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, police in it’s statement further said that case vide FIR No. 202/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kulgam and further investigation into the matter is underway.
