DM Shopian calls for intensified vaccination drive for priority groups

Shopian: The District Magistrate (DM) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya Tuesday convened a meeting at Mini Secretariat here to take stock of the progress of vaccination process and discuss the roadmap for scaling up the percentage of the vaccination to protect and safeguard precious human lives in the district.
The DM on the occasion called for an intensified and continued Special Vaccination Drive of all vulnerable and target groups to break the transmission chain of infection in the district.
During the meeting, Vaishya reviewed the current vaccination status and directed the concerned to cover all left out populations of 18 plus years target groups as soon as possible.
He said vaccination is imperative to fight the Coronavirus pandemic and pushed for vigorous vaccination in the district particularly of vulnerable groups including shopkeepers, street vendors, transporters and other people directly involved in the public delivery system.
The DM urged all the officers to ensure vaccination of 18 plus years of age group and cent percent vaccination target is achieved within their respective jurisdictions at an earliest and to ensure proper outreach and expanded vaccination coverage in the district.
He further added that additional vaccination sites were established at specific locations so that maximum target population is benefitted and Covid-19 vaccination process has been expedited by mobilizing Asha workers, Anganwadi workers, BLOs as well as PRI members and religious heads across the district to scale up the vaccination drive.
He said that SOPs and other guidelines like wearing of masks, sanitization, hand washing and Vaccination are imperative to curb Covid infection.
Vaishya said that the District Administration is working very hard in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic and people of the district have extended their cooperation due to which visible decline has been witnessed during first and 2nd Wave of Covid-19 pandemic. Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmed Simnani, SDM, Zainapora, CMO, Tehsildars, Dy.CMO, CEO, DIO, BDOs and others concerned.
