Distt Admin Ang impose penalties on food business operators in Ang

Anantnag: Additional Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag who is designated as Adjudicating Officer under Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 imposed a penalty of Rupees Four Lakh Thirty Three Thousand on various Food Business Operators (FBO) of the district for violating various provisions of the Act.
It was informed that 13 cases were filed by the Food Safety Officers against various FBOs for manufacturing and sale of substandard and misbranded products, not obtaining license for food registration besides violating Good Hygienic and Manufacturing Practices as mandated in Schedule 04 of the Act.
During the trial, the ADC directed the Food Business Operators to strictly adhere to the provisions of the Act and desist from such illegal acts in future. He also called for creating awareness among the stakeholders to implement the FSSA in letter and spirit for benefit of both the FBOs and consumers.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Director Food Safety, Zameer Ahmad has reiterated to fully enforce the Act on ground and appealed the manufacturers and sellers to show compliance in this regard.
