Bandipora: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Saturday conducted field tour of Shilvat and Sarai-Dangerpora areas of Sumbal Sub-Division to take stock of various developmental activities besides holding public interaction programme.
The tour was part of the weekly field tour programmes of the DC to listen to public grievances of the people at their doorsteps.
Dr Owais inspected the ongoing macadamization works at different locations in Bandipora and Sumbal, Shilvat and Sarai Dangerpora. He stressed upon the officers to ensure that the highest standard of quality is maintained and asked them to expedite the works to meet the target.
He said the macadamization of important inner roads are being macadamized by R&B, PMGSY and Beacon across the district. He said last year the district macadamized a record length of 115 Kms and this year the administration aspires to macadamize more leftover roads.
Dr Owais said 11 Kms of inner roads in Shilvat and Sarai-Dangerpora and adjoining areas are also being macadamized this year.
He cautioned the implementing agencies to meet the deadlines strictly in given developmental projects. He said the government won’t tolerate any inordinate delays in works and action as per law shall be taken against contractors who would not meet the deadlines or will not ensure standard quality of works. He said the government can cancel the contract with such individuals or firms who are not able to do their job efficiently including macadamization.
During the visit, the DC also interacted with the locals to get feedback about welfare schemes and developmental works.
Locals apprised the DC about various issues faced by them with regard to availability of basic amenities including water supply, electricity, healthcare, irrigation and roads. Dr Owais assured redressal of their grievances and also passed on spot directions for redressal of several grievances.
Dr Owais said the aim of the tour was to take appraisal of local issues from the general public for accurate and on ground assessment and redressal of the same thereby providing governance to the public at their door steps.
He was accompanied by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sumbal Dr Bashir Ahmad Lone, Executive Engineer R&B and other senior officers of the district.
