Advisor Farooq Khan for sticking to timelines while executing the sports infra projects

Progress on sports projects being executed by JKPCC reviewed

Srinagar: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan Saturday chaired a meeting to review the physical and financial progress of various sports infrastructure projects under J&K Sports Council (JKSC) being executed through Jammu and Kashmir Project Construction Corporation (JKPCC).
The meeting was attended by Managing Director, JKPCC, Vikas Kundal, Executive Director JKPCC, Chief Engineer, JKPCC, Secretary, JKSC, Deputy General Managers of JKPCC and other concerned officials of the JKSC.
During the meeting, detailed deliberations were held on the physical progress achieved on various projects like, multi-purpose indoor sports halls at Gool (Ramban), Doda, Kishtwar, Mandi (Poonch), Budgam, Shopian, Rajpora Pulwama, Mirgund Pattan and other places.
While reviewing the progress on these projects, Advisor Khan stressed upon the officers for speedy and timely completion of all the projects of JKSC to provide sportspersons of J&K a reliable and modern type of sports infrastructure to realize their potential. He asked them to make concerted efforts to involve more and more youth into sports to channelize their energies.
Speaking on the progress made on construction of multi-purpose indoor sports halls at Doda, Kishtwar, Advisor Khan directed the officers to complete both these projects before 31st of December 2021.
Regarding the Multi-purpose Indoor Hall at Mandi, Poonch the Advisor expressed his displeasure on slow progress and exhorted upon JKPCC to complete this project before 31st of March 2022.
Regarding the Multi-purpose Indoor Sports Hall Gool, Ramban, MD JKPCC informed the Advisor that while executing the project it was found that the soil condition at the site was not stable as such the project was redesigned for giving it a sound footing which led to delay as well as cost escalation.
The Advisor directed the JKPCC and Sports Council to jointly inspect the site at Gool and come up with revised DPR. It was further directed to formulate a pert chart so that the progress on these works can be monitored and supervised on weekly basis.
The Advisor also directed the officers to devise a mechanism for water harvesting at all stadiums where roofs have yet not be constructed, so that the water harvested by this technique can be utilised for different purposes while carrying out various activities in these stadiums.
The Advisor further directed JKPCC to ensure that the Grounds around the Multi-Purpose Indoor Sports Halls are cleared of all the rubble, building material and are cleaned so that the same can also be utilized by the Sports Persons. Besides it was also directed by the Advisor that the access to the Indoor Halls should be provided by good macadamized roads.
The Engineers of JKPCC informed the Advisor that the Multi-Purpose Indoor Hall at Mirgund Pattan and Shopian will be completed in all respects by 30th of September and 31st of October, 2021 respectively. Further it was informed that the Multi-purpose Indoor Hall at Rajpora Pulwama is complete and is ready for inauguration.
