Srinagar: A week-long art workshop commenced at the University of Kashmir on Thursday.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Talat Ahmad inaugurated the workshop, organised jointly by the varsity and Sansar Chand Baru Charitable Trust.
In his presidential address, Prof Talat said such workshops will enable young minds to showcase their talent and highlight various issues of societal importance.
“Art is a very important way of expressing yourself and giving vent to your thoughts and emotions. I am sure that this workshop will facilitate the participants to learn more about forms of art and highlight issues of societal and environmental importance,” Prof Talat said, congratulating the organisers for holding the workshop.
KU Registrar Dr Nisar A Mir, who was a guest of honour, said the university is committed to provide a professional platform to youth of J&K to showcase their talent in various forms of art.
“We want our students to excel at the national and international level and for this we are trying to augment our infrastructure to provide the best possible training to youth so that they can showcase their talent,” he said.
Anuradha Rishi from Sansar Chand Baru Charitable Trust highlighted the achievements and works being undertaken by the organisation.
Dr Aadil Bashir from Department of Social Work, KU, coordinated the event, which was attended by prominent artists from across the country and participants from KU’s Institute of Music and Fine Arts and Department of Social Work.
