Bandipora : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Thursday briefed media about the Covid situation in the district and appealed the people to continue to follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) and stressed for 100 percent vaccination in 18-45 age group population of the district.
The DC said that the Covid-19 situation is improving gradually and recovery rate is improving owing to extensive testing in containment zones and vaccination drives launched at a large scale in the district.
Dr Owais said the recovery rate has been 98.2 percent in the district while the positivity rate has also been stabilized from the past few weeks. He said no new cluster has been formed while the new cases are being detected in scattered areas.
However, he said the sporadic cases at certain places imply that we still need to be careful and any leniency will lead to an increase in covid cases.
He informed that there are 50 active positive cases as on date in the district out of which only one is under hospital isolation and are stable. He said all positive cases are being monitored regularly at home and in hospital isolation.
Dr Owais said that 100 percent vaccination of the 45 plus age group has been completed while currently the focus is on the vaccination of the 18-45 age group and about sixty thousand doses have been administered so far in this age group. He appealed to the youngsters to come forward and get vaccinated at designated locations as early as possible.
He said it has been witnessed that the new cases being detected from past few weeks are all unvaccinated while even if some vaccinated person gets infected, no severe symptoms were found among them.
The DC said that Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) and SOPs are vital to prevent any spike in infections and cautioned against any complacency on part of the stakeholders so that the virus is kept at bay and its spread is curtailed further.
He appealed to the people not to lower guard and asked them to follow guidelines so that administration is not forced to take action against violators. He said the general public can report the violation of SOPs to the control rooms so that action can be taken against violators
