Srinagar: Police in Baramulla on Wednesday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Police in a statement issued here on Wednesday said that officers from PS Kunzer under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Hilal Khaliq at a checkpoint established at Kunzer intercepted 2 persons identified as Rouf Ahmad Wani son of Ghulam Mohammad Wani resident of Lolpora Kunzer and Lateef Ahmad Sofi son of Ghulam Nabi Sofi resident of Ward No. 2 Kunzer. “Officers recovered 3.5Kgs of Poppy straw & 260gms of Charas from the possession of the above named accused who were rrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody”, reads the above quoted police statement.
Stating Officers from PS Baramulla under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Syed Sajad Ahmad at a checkpoint established at Azadgunj Baramulla also intercepted a person identified as Shahid Majeed Bhat son of Ab Majeed Bhat resident of Mohalla Mir Sahib Baramulla, police in it’s statement further said “during checking, officers recovered 85gms of Charas from the possession of the above named accused who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody”.
In the concluded para of its above referred statement police said that it has registered cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated.
