Kidnapped minor girl recovered in Kulgam; accused arrested: Police

Srinagar: Police in Kulgam on Tuesday said that it has recovered a kidnapped minor girl within one hour and arrested the accused person involved in the commission of crime.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday police said that police Station Kulgam received a written complaint from one person stating therein that his minor daughter was kidnapped by one person namely Muntazir Ahmad Shakhsaz son of Mohammad Yaqoob Shakhsaz resident of Chawalgam.
Stating that during the course of investigation, a team headed by SHO Police Station Kulgam under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Kulgam Ghulam Muhamad Bhat was constituted to trace and rescue the kidnapped girl, police in it’s statement said that acting on specific leads and by utilizing all available means, the team recovered the kidnapped girl and arrested the accused person involved in the commission of crime within one hour after complaint was received.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police said “after fulfilling all medico-legal formalities, the girl has been handed over to her legal heirs. Further investigation into the matter is in progress”, adding that “a case vide FIR No. 197/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kulgam and investigation was initiated”.
