DC B’pora tours extensively far flung areas of Aragam & Chithibandi villages, holds public interaction

Bandipora: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Wednesday conducted an extensive tour of far flung areas of Aragam and Chithibandi villages in Bandipora district and held public interactions to listen to public issues, grievances and demands
He was accompanied by District Development Council member, Dr. Mustafa, Chief Education Officer Bandipora, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti, R&B, PMGSY, Tehsildar Bandipora and other officers of Revenue, PDD, Rural Development and other senior officers of the district.
The DC visited Chapal, Aragam, Gujjarpati, and other adjoining habitations of tribal communities in the area and interacted with people besides inspecting ongoing Public Works and reviewing the developmental activities taking place in the area especially road connectivity, availability of potable water, schools etc.
He inspected the recently upgraded Chanpal High School and reviewed the infrastructure available in the school. He also inspected Chithibandi-GoriHajan road, Aragam-Chapran road, Aragam-Gujjarpati road besides inspecting other health and educational institutions.
Dr Owais said the aim of the tour was to take appraisal of local issues from the general public for accurate and on ground assessment and redressal of the same thereby providing governance to the public at their door steps.
Dozens of delegations including members of Panchayat Raj Institutions besides scores of individuals called on the DC during the tour and apprised him about the problems faced by them in day to day life including road connectivity, lack of staff in Health care centres, up-gradation of schools and roads, construction of paths and culverts, availability of safe drinking water, augmentation of power infrastructure etc.
The DC after giving patient hearing to the delegations, he passed on-spot directions for redressal of the same. He also passed on spot directions for the resolutions of various issues while several committees and joint teams were constituted to resolve issues raised by the people during the program.
Responding to the grievances, the DC directed for starting of work on Water Supply Scheme (WSS) Chapran, WSS Halwadi, WSS Aragam and WSS Chithibandi as these schemes has been approved under Jal Jeevan Mission that aims to provide pure drinking water to all uncovered population. He said the schemes once completed will mitigate the drinking water issues in the said areas.
He also directed for posting of staff in Health Sub Centres of Chithibandi and Aragam and also directed for ensuring quality work and maintaining of appropriate width on PMGSY roads of the area. He directed Tehsildar concerned to demarcate the spots.
Dr Owais said unless the district officers will not reach far-flung areas, no progress and redressal of grievances is possible. He urged the officers to regularly visit far flung areas to redress the grievances and also take feedback from the people besides first hand appraisal of the developmental activities.
While interacting with the people, Dr Owais appealed to people to adopt Covid Appropriate Behavior (CAB) at all public places including all religious and social gatherings. He instructed Health and revenue Officers to strictly monitor covid guidelines besides testing at all gatherings.
