Bandipora:The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Thursday briefed media about the covid situation in the district and appealed the people to continue to follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) and urged un-vaccinated population to get vaccinated at an earliest.
The DC said the Covid-19 situation is improving gradually and recovery rate is also improving owing to extensive testing in containment zones and vaccination drives launched at a large scale in the district.
Dr Owais said the district administration has conducted 3.30 lakh tests so far in the district and currently the positivity rate is 0.30 percent and the recovery rate is 98.35 percent.
Giving details, the DC said there are 51 active positive cases as on date in the district and only one patient is in hospital isolation. He said the downfall of the cases is due to strict containment measures including extensive sampling and subsequent vaccination drive at a large scale.
He said the 100 percent vaccination of the 45 plus age group has been completed while currently the focus is on the vaccination of the 18-45 age group and more than 51k doses have been administered so far in this age group. He appealed to the youngsters to come forward and get vaccinated at designated locations as early as possible.
Dr Owais said the district administration has launched a fresh awareness campaign about Covid Appropriate Behaviour-“Tahafuz-Say No to New Wave” with an aim to sensitize people afresh about the CAB and urged them to continue to follow the guidelines.
He said the fatigue factor has led to violation of CAB that can prove dangerous for future and hence there is a need to sensitize people again and tell them that the pandemic is not over yet and any violation in CAB may lead to another wave.
The DC said the Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) and SOPs are vital to prevent any spike in infections and cautioned against any complacency on part of the stakeholders so that the virus is kept at bay and its spread is curtailed further.
He appealed to the people not to lower guard and asked them to follow guidelines so that administration is not forced to take action against violators.
