Srinagar: The Members of Panchayat Raj Institutions and various Self Help Groups (SHGs) of Srinagar promoted under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) Thursday interacted with Prime Minister through web-cast (live-streaming) facilitated by District Informatics Office Srinagar at Meeting Hall of the DC office here.
The Prime Minister who was directly interacting with SHG members across India under DAY-NRLM aims at mobilising rural poor households into SHGs in a phased manner and provide them long-term support to diversify their livelihoods, improve their incomes and quality of life.
The same programmes were organized across all Gram Panchayats of district Srinagar at the designated Cluster Level Federations (CLFs) and Village Level Organizations (VLOs).
During the deliberations of the event, the Prime Minister interacted with selected SHG members who have come out of poverty and have had very pathetic socio-economic conditions prior joining Mission NRLM also known as “UMEED” in Jammu and Kashmir.
The participating members got inspired and motivated enough while listening/hearing the case studies and life changing experience of various SHG members who shared their experience after being part of NRLM. It has been learnt that various skill related initiatives have been taken across the country by SHG members.
The Prime Minister appreciated and boosted the morale of SHG members and promised to extend backend support and full cooperation from all corners.
