Uri (Baramulla): As part of run up to the 75th Independence Day Indian Army undertook an initiative to organise a Trek to the interiors of Pir Panjal along with Civil Administration of Sub Division Uri and local youth.
The adventure trek fueled by the Spirit of 75th Independence Day intended to imbue the people into the shades of Tricolour also . It aimed at reaching out to people of the far flung areas, showcase the genuine concern for them and endevour to shoulder their challenges by taking inputs from the grassroot levels.
The soldiers and the people trekking team comprising of Army personnel, Civil Administrative Officers from Sub Division Uri, Block Boniyar along with BDC Chairman, Sarpanchs and youth volunteers was flagged off in the morning at Boniyar.
The challenging 12 KM Trekking route which commenced from village Bernate of Boniyar tested the nerves of the team however a deep desire to meet the people of the remote areas and address their greviances propelled them to the destination.
Enroute the Army Medical team organised medicine distribution camp for the locals residing in the Dhoks in vicinity to the Ziarat Sharif, the Army and Civil Officers interacted with locals to note their Grievances.
