Ganderbal: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Krittika Jyotsna Wednesday stressed the general public to follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) and other SOPs strictly during Muharram days and on the eve of Independence Day.
The DC said this during a routine press briefing to present an overall situation of the Covid-19 in the district, besides the Covid containment and mitigation measures employed so far.
While urging people to participate in Independence Day functions, the DC said that several functions will be organized on 15th August at village level, Tehsil level, Block level, Sub division level and district level.
She also urged them to celebrate Independence Day with strict adherence to CAB and other basic SOPs like wearing face masks and maintaining social distance.
The DC also urged PRIs, BDCs and DDCs to come forward in enforcing the CAB especially on Independence Day.
Regarding vaccination campaigns for 18-44 years, the DC said that a new micro planning is done in which the population of selective villages that are in vicinity to medical blocks are vaccinated on pilot basis to achieve the target at an earliest. She said that vaccination in these villages is going on smoothly and complimented the locals for their support and cooperation.
While highlighting the importance of CAB and vaccination, the DC appealed the PRIs to educate people about the importance of CAB and vaccination in combating possible Covid 3rd wave.
The DC also requested the people, especially from the Shia community to follow CAB strictly and avoid large gatherings during Muharram days.
