3 drug peddlers arrested in Baramulla, Contraband substances recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police in Baramullah on Monday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Monday police said that officers from PS Baramulla under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Behrampora intercepted three persons identified as Qazi Burhan son of Qazi Ab. Hameed, Qazi Asif son of Qazi Dawood Ahmad, both residents of Qazipora Delina and Imran Ahmad Sofi son of Ghulam Qadir Sofi resident of Rawathpora Delina and upon checking 5 Kgs of Poppy straw and three grams of Brown sugar were recovered from their possession after which they were formally arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that acting on specific information regarding the drug peddling, a Police party of PS Sheeri under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla recovered 40 Kgs of Poppy Straw from the house of Ghulam Nabi Dar son of Mohd Shafi Dar resident of Paliharan Sheeri but the accused has went absconding and efforts are on to effect his arrest, police in the concluding para of it’s statement said that police has registered cases under relevant sections of law in respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated.
