Ganderbal: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Krittika Jyotsna Saturday conducted an extensive tour of Kangan during which she inspected the ongoing works on Akhal and Tangchatri bridges.
During her visit to Akhal Bridge constructed over the river Sindh at Kangan, being executed by the JKPCC, the concerned officials informed the DC that the 82-meter long span trussed bridge is being constructed at a cost of Rs 807.99 lakh and value of work done as on August 2021 is Rs 402.53 lakh.
Giving details about physical achievements so far, DGM JKPCC informed that the bridge is completed up to super structure. Besides, balance components like trussed girder, superstructure, deck slab and approach road are in the tendering process.
The DC directed the DGM that the tendering process for balance work should be completed immediately and the super structure should be ready by November this year.
While inspecting the work progress of Tangchatri Bridge, the DGM informed that 68-meter-long span bridge is being constructed at a cost of Rs 668.53 lakh and value of work done as on august 2021 is Rs 512 lakh and bridge is completed up to super structure level including bearing pedestal besides span first is also completed by way of launching of truss girders.
Regarding dumping of material, the DGM informed that fabricated truss girders for a span second have been delivered and dumped at the site.
The DC directed the JKPCC to complete the launching of the second span after exploring the possibility of channelization of the nallah Sindh as there is a surge in water level and further instructed to take up approach roads on both sides as work is already allotted.
The GM JKPCC raised certain issues like land acquisition for approach roads and proper site for dumping of material for which DC directed the SDM Kangan to demarcate the land for approach roads and settle all revenue related issues at an earliest.
Keeping in view the importance of both bridges, the DC urged the executing agency to expedite the progress of work so that they get completed within a set time frame and are thrown open for the general public.
During the visit, the DC was accompanied by DDC member Kangan, SDM Kangan, Deputy General Manager, JKPCC, Tehsildar Kangan and other concerned officials.
