Jammu:Jammu and Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA), Jammu held Executive Committee Meeting held under the chairmanship of Pt. Kewal K Sharma, President, JKCCA in which a decision was taken to appoint Dharminder Sharma, an eminent artist from Amritsar (Punjab), as Advisor to JKCCA. Dharminder Sharma has been associated with JKCCA for the last twenty years. Keeping in view of his outstanding contribution in the field of art, the President JKCCA Pt. Kewal K Sharma appointed him as one of the advisors of Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA), Jammu.
Dharminder Sharma has participated in many International, National and state level art exhibitions and workshops/ camps like Group Shows at Gurgaon, New Delhi, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Jaipur, Pune, International Group show at Jammu, and Solo Shows at Amritsar and Chandigarh. He has also attended Art Camps/ Workshops organized by Indian Academy of Fine Arts (IAFA), Amritsar, Amrit Kala Kumbh, by AIFACS, New Delhi; THDC India Ltd., Rishikesh; SNEHIL at Raj Bhavan, Dehradun; Film Fare Award (Delhi); J&K Academyof Art, Culture & Languages, Srinagar; special invitee in International Painting workshop at Kumau University (Bhimtal); J&K Poshe Cultural Society, Jammu; JKLCC; DAV College, Ajmer; Virsa Vihar, Amritsar; Lalit Kala Akademi (LKA), New Delhi; Pb. LKA, Chandigarh; Petroleum University, Dehradun; Govt. of Punjab at Dera Baba Nanak in connection with the Celebration of 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, 2019, KT Kala (KAUSA Trust), Amritsar; International Art Symposium (TURK- Punjabi); JKCCA, Jammu; Painting Workshop (Virtual) by LKA, N Delhi etc.
Dharminder Sharma has been awarded wuth various awards/ honours by many organizations including Highly Commended Award by IAFA, Amritsar; by DPS, Haridwar; All India Award by IAFA, Amritsar; Pb. Council of Art and Literature (Rotary Club, Amritsar SE); KT Kala, Amritsar; Best Teacher Award in 2016 and 2019 by IAFA; and by Dist. Administration, Amritsar on 26th January, 2018. Born on 14th August, 1964 Dharminder Sharma has qualified M A in Fine Arts, and a Diploma in Art & Craft. His two books ‘History of Art’ and ‘Clay Modeling’ have also been published.
According to O P Sharma, Director, JKCCA, the new appointment has been made to fill up a vacant posion of advisor in the organization. He said that JKCCA is among the leading organizations of Jammu & Kashmir contributing in the promotion of Art, Culture & Languages. He added that JKCCA was established way back in 1999 to promote, preserve and propagate the splendid art heritage of Jammu & Kashmir and stimulate and rejuvenate it into a blossoming art movement. Its three pronged strategy is adopted to unleash the progress of languages, literature and other fine arts. It is a matter of satisfaction that the NGO has so far organized hundreds of such activities in and outside the state.
