Srinagar: Police on Monday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Kulgam & Budgam districts and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Monday police said that in Kulgam, officers of Police Post Mirbazar at a checkpoint near FCI Mirbazar intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK02BM-2968 driven by Diljeet Singh son of Darshan Singh resident of Simbal Jammu and upon checking recover one kg poppy straw from his possession after which he wasarrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that in a similar incident in Budgam district, officers at a checkpoint established at Shiekhpora Budgam intercepted two persons roaming in suspicious conditions carrying some bags and identified them as Sajan Kumar son of Ashok Kumar resident of Ludhaina Punjab and Gurjant Singh son of Baldev Singh resident of Ferozpur Punjab, police in it’s statement further said “during checking, officers recovered 2 kgs of poppy straw concealed in bags from the possession of the above named accused who were arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody”.
In the concluded para of its above referred statement police said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective Police Stations and further investigations have been initiated.
