Ramban: Labour Deptt disburses over Rs 89 Lakh among 1177 registered construction workers

Ramban: Labour Department Ramban disbursed an amount of Rs 89, 41, 500 among 1177 registered construction workers under different schemes of Jammu and Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB), here Friday.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ramban, Mussarat Islam released the funds, including Rs 81, 91, 500 for school education and Rs 7,50,000 for professional education for the wards of the registered workers through DBT Mode.
Under the education assistance scheme, the children of the registered labourers are provided academic and professional scholarships, besides other social assistance.
Assistant Labour Commissioner, (ALC) Ramban Angrej Singh and Assistant Director (AD) Employment, Ramban, Naresh Kumar were present on the occasion.
While interacting with the labourers, Deputy Commissioner said that people should come forward to avail the centrally sponsored schemes of the government. He stressed upon the labourers to register for PMJAY- SEHAT and get the benefit of the scheme. He also stressed upon them for adopting new technologies and hone their skills through various skill development programmes of the government to enhance their skills.
The ALC Ramban informed that earlier during the current financial year, the department has released Rs 3,96,89,347 under various schemes, including Rs 12,30,000 among the dependent family members of six deceases construction workers, Rs 2, 99,097 among three registered construction workers as chronic diseases assistance, Rs 48, 750 to two workers as disability assistance and Rs 4, 11, 85, 00 to 535 workers as lower and higher education assistance for their wards, besides COVID Assistant of Rs 3,39,93,000 among 16868 active registered workers.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the ALC to register all the genuine labourers of the district with the labour department so that they can avail the benefits of various welfare schemes being implemented by it.
