DC B’pora distributes assistive aids among differently abled persons

Bandipora: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, on Friday distributed various assistive aids and devices among differently abled persons as part of Corporate Social Responsibility by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC).
The assistive aids and devices were distributed among 122 persons with disabilities during a camp at the office of Department of Social Welfare Ajar in presence of Ashish Kumar Chouksey, Head Kishenganga Power Project, DSWO Bandipora GM Dar, Officers of NHPC, ALIMCO, and President Handicapped Association Bandipora.
The aid and devices included 98 Hearing Aids, 24 walking sticks, 13 tricycles, 27 wheel chairs, 6 CP Chairs, 7 smart canes, 2 smartphones, 5 MR Kits, 3 rotators and 18 calipers at a total cost of Rs 10.05 lakhs.
These beneficiaries were identified during assessment camps conducted by Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare, Bandipora in the month of March, 2021.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC appreciated the efforts of NHPC and Social Welfare department to ease the problems faced by differently abled people and hand holding them regularly. He said the district administration is akin to the problems faced by the people with special needs and assured them every possible support that will ease the problems of such people.
He stressed on providing better facilities to the children with special abilities so that they can get a better education. He said providing better education and healthcare facilities to such individuals should be the priority for all and assured that all required measures shall be taken to ensure a better education for these individuals.
He said the Government has taken several measures for the welfare of the disabled persons from time to time, including financial assistance in the shape of pension, free education, free medical treatment, free travel, vocational programmes etc and a large number of people are availing these benefits.
