Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it arrested a person accused of rape within hours after complaint was received.
In a statement issued here on Thursday police said that Police Station Uri on Wednesday this week received a written complaint from one person stating wherein it was stated that his minor daughter (name withheld) aged about 13 years was raped by one person namely Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan @ Muna Khan son of Mohammad Saleem resident of Paranpeelan Uri in forest area after giving life threat to her.
Stating that on receiving the said complaint, a case under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Uri and investigation was set into motion, police in it’s statement further said that during the course of investigation police team after utilizing all available means and strenuous efforts arrested the accused person within hours of complaint received by police after which he (accused) was shifted to the police station where he remains in custody.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police said “as a part of investigation, necessary medico-legal formalities have been carried out and further investigation is in progress”.
