DGP sanctions spl welfare relief of Rs.70 lakh

Srinagar: With an aim to provide financial support to the families of the police personnel/ SPOs who expired while in service, the Director-General Police Dilbag Singh has sanctioned rupees 70 lakh as Special Welfare Relief vide different orders of PHQ.
According to a police statement issued on Thursday special welfare relief of Rs 19 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of the deceased ASI Pawan Singh, HC Gopal Dass and follower Pritam Singh who expired while in service.
Stating that Rs one lakh has been already paid to the NoKs of deceased police personnel for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through their concerned units, police in it’s statement further said “the financial assistance has been given out of the Contributory Police Welfare Fund”.
The DGP, according to the above referred police statement,has also sanctioned special relief of Rs five lakhs each in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased SPOs Mohammad Nazir and Vakil Singh who passed away during the course of their engagement in the department. Police in the above quoted statement further said “the financial assistance has been given out of the Contributory Welfare Fund of SPOs”, adding that “as a welfare measure Police Headquarters has taken many initiatives to ensure increased help and assistance for the welfare of its personnel and their families”.
