Bandipora: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad Tuesday briefed the media on the current Covid scenario, vaccination and other mitigation efforts put in place in the district.
Giving details, the DC said that the active cases have drastically decreased in the district during the current month and the positivity rate has gone down to the all time low up to 0.09 percent.
He said the administration has not lowered the guard but is continuously fighting the pandemic on two fronts- intensive testing and subsequent isolation of patients and the mass vaccination drive launched across the district.
Dr Owais said that the administration is conducting nearly 2000 tests per day though it has witnessed less positivity rate. He said there are 34 active positive cases at present in the district out of which 4 are under hospital isolation and one is in tertiary care hospital.
He said the pandemic is not over yet as the virus is still present in the community. He appealed to people to get themselves tested in case they feel any symptoms so that they can take proper care and isolate to save others from getting infected.
The DC said that the 45 plus age group has been fully vaccinated in the district while the vaccination of the 18-45 years age group is going on at present. He said the health workers are visiting far off places to inform the public and appeal to them to get vaccinated. He said thirty thousand doses have been provided so far.
Dr Owais said Bandipora witnessed a recovery rate of about 98.58 percent and 100 fatalities since the first phase of the pandemic. He appreciated the people for following covid SOPs during Eid and urged them to continue following the same as the pandemic is not over yet.
He said the Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) and SOPs are vital to prevent any spike in infections and cautioned against any complacency on part of the stakeholders so that the virus is kept at bay and its spread is curtailed further. He appealed to the people not to lower guard and asked them to follow guidelines so that administration is not forced to take action against violators. He said the general public can report the violation of SOPs to the control rooms so that action can be taken against violators.
